Mummy Profiles - Dee Zibara
Posted on 23 March 2020
Dee first modelled for Angel Maternity with her newborn baby. We loved working with her so much, we asked her to come back again for another photoshoot.
It's been a while since we last saw you, tell us what you've been up to?
I was in my final year of Nutritional Medicine while pregnant and since then have become a Health & Wellness Presenter (for both teens and corporates), have my own Nutrition business and have been on a few podcasts.
Did you have a girl or a boy?
I have a girl and she's 2.5 years old now.
How was your giving birth experience?
It was long!!! My birthing plan was 100% different to what I’d imagined, but I went into it open minded and the outcome was exactly what I’d hoped – a healthy, beautiful, baby girl.
Did you breastfeed?
Yes, until my daughter was 1.5 yrs.
How has your life changed since becoming a mum?
I feel like I’ve stepped into my power. As a woman, you become so strong like a Mama Bear and I think it’s the most beautiful transition a woman could go through. I see the world from such a different perspective now.
What’s something you wish you had known earlier about motherhood?
How much love my own mother had for me. I would have been a lot nicer to her as a teen!
What do you LOVE about motherhood?
The strength you grow and how present you become because you’re so in love and don’t want to miss a thing.
Any advice for other mums or mum-to-be?
When you have your baby you will know exactly what to do. Always follow YOUR gut intuition and don’t let anyone talk you out of what you believe. You know your baby best.
How are you responding to the current situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus)?
We usually run live events with 50-100 teens as participants, to teach them about mindset and life skills they don't learn at school. With the current situation, the business had to pivot, of course. We just conducted a virtual classroom using Zoom, with about 60 participants, including assistants and participants. We were able to break off into smaller groups and played interactive games. As the very first Virtual Empower U, I think it went really great! We had participants from NSW and QLD so it was awesome to have them connect and protect our greater communities.
