Movie Review – What to Expect When You’re Expecting

As promised ladies, here is my review of the movie.

A light movie that tries to capture different stories within the hour and a half, it did an amazing job fulfilling the stories by creating different genres between the various couples. The movie outlines 5 main couples journey and their struggles into pregnancy, and the predicaments that can occur along the way.

With an all star cast that is sure to cover everyone’s favourite actors, Jennifer Lopez’s and Elizabeth Banks acting stood out to me the most with their solid performance, but more so that their characters were able to portray individually, heartbreak and emotion.

While it is a somewhat predictable movie, it makes it enjoyable to watch, through its humour and its ability to connect with the audience through similar trials that females endure. It does a great job in addressing pregnancy concerns and its developmental stages that both women and men adjust to. However, by juggling different storylines, it was somewhat distracting, and the prude jokes were not always on target.

The music picked for the various scenes were somewhat ‘used before’ and ‘old’ but the underlying reason to create laughs was understandable and fitting for the themes.

Nonetheless, it was a well written movie that has the ability to engage with its audience and makes for an entertaining movie for the weekend with the girlfriends or partner.

3.5 out of 5 stars for me.
